Baked Italian Spaghetti Squash

Sensational Spaghetti “Squashed” to Perfection…….Italian Style, Yummmmmy!!!

 

Ingredients

Sauce
  • 3-4 Tablespoons Felippo Berio Olive Oil Olive oil is super healthy for your heart
  • 3-4 Cloves garlic Garlic offers a variety of benefits, from cardiovascular protection, and lowering LDL levels along with triglycerides and lowering blood pressure.
  • 1/2 Medium Onion Onion is high in vitamins and minerals and antioxidants and some benefits may include reducing the risk of heart disease.
  • 2 Boxes/Cans Pomi Strained Tomatoes Tomatoes- studies have discovered that high levels of lycopene in the blood are associated with a lower risk of cardiovascular disease in both men and women.
  • 3 Tablespoons Oregano Oregano is rich in antioxidants.
  • 2 Tablespoons Garlic salt Lowry's Garlic Salt
  • 1 Tsp. Sugar Raw Sugar
  • 1 Tsp. Sea Salt
  • 10 Fresh Basil Leaves The anti-inflammatory properties of basil may help lower risk of heart disease.
  • 1 Tsp. Garlic Powder
  • 4-5 Grinds Ground Pepper
  • 2-3 Tablespoons Grated Cheese
Spaghetti Squash/Ground meat
  • 1 Spaghetti Squash Spaghetti Squash contains fiber and according to the The American Heart Association, consuming fiber on a regular basis improves health by reducing the risk of cardiovascular disease and lowering cholesterol.
  • 1 Lb. Part Skim Ricotta Bel Gioioso
  • 2 Lbs. Organic Ground Turkey

Instructions

Cooking the Spaghetti Squash
  1. Set the oven to 375.
  2. Then, pierce the whole spaghetti squash 10 times with a knife.
  3. Microwave on high for 8-10 minutes until warm to the touch, remove and cut in half.
  4. Put Spaghetti Squash in a large corning ware or glass Pyrex and bake covered for 40-50 minutes until tender, scrape the squash out with a spoon, should be soft and stringy, set aside.
Sauce
  1. First, add 1 Tablespoon of Olive Oil to a pot and add 3 cloves of chopped garlic and 1/4 of chopped onion and saute until transparent.
  2. Next, add Pomi strained tomatoes or 2 cans of crushed tomatoes to the pot.
  3. Add garlic salt, garlic powder, salt, pepper, oregano, sugar,and basil, bring to soft boil for 20-25 minutes then simmer for 2-3 hours.
  4. Stirring every 20-30 minutes and add salt, pepper, oregano, and basil to your liking.
Ground Turkey
  1. First ,add Tablespoon of olive oil to a skillet.
  2. Next, add garlic, onion, and ground turkey to the skillet and brown.
  3. Lastly, add the ground turkey to the sauce pot, continue cooking meat sauce for another 1-1.5 hours.
Baking the Italian Spaghetti Squash
  1. Preheat oven to 375.
  2. Fill the the shell of the spaghetti squash with the meat sauce.
  3. Next, add the spooned out squash on top of the meat sauce.
  4. Add grated cheese, a dollop of Ricotta, and chopped basil leaves on top and bake for 10 minutes..........Absolutely Superb Buon Appetito
