Sweet Cream & Cranberry Walnut Wonton Holiday Bites are like pieces of heaven.  The combination of the cranberries tartness, add chopped sweet apple , walnut flavor, the sweet cream, all wrapped into a delicious pouch with a dash of chives and/or jalapeno……Unbelievably Delicious! This recipe came from a combination of foods, Mom’s famous Thanksgiving Cranberry Jello with walnuts AND her specialty frosting that has been displayed on all of mine and my sister’s birthday cakes for many, many year! Combine it all and that is ultimately how these Apps came to be. Your family and friends will LOVE these….SO if I were you,  I would make plenty……Enjoy!!!

Sweet Cream & Cranberry Walnut Wontons Holiday Bites Yum

Cranberry Filling
  • 1 8oz. Package Fresh Cranberries Recent studies have shown that cranberry consumption, along with other fruits and vegetables, may help improve heart health, including by lowering cholesterol.
  • 1 Cup Water
  • 1/2 Cup Apple Juice
  • 1/2 Cup Organic Honey Honey is a rich source of phenols and other antioxidant compounds. Many of these have been linked to a reduced risk of heart disease.
  • 1/2 Chopped Apple Apples heart-healthy reputation has found that eating apples daily appeared to lower levels of cholesterol and two other markers associated with plaques and inflammation in artery walls.
  • 1/4 Cup Walnuts Walnuts are an exceptionally nutritious nut. They have higher antioxidant activity and significantly more healthy omega-3 fats than any other common nut. This rich nutrient profile contributes to the many health benefits associated with walnuts, such as reduced inflammation and improved heart disease risk factors.

Instructions
Cooking Cranberry Mixture and Prepping Add-ons
  1. First, add water, apple juice, honey, and cranberries to a small pot and bring to a boil.
  2. Next, add your chopped apple to the mix and boil gently for an additional 10 minutes, then set aside to cool.
  3. Then about 10 minutes after the mix has cooled, add all of the above ingredients into a blender or food processor and ADD the walnuts and blend then set aside.
  4. Next, slice jalapenos thinly and in half if you wish. Then chop the chives into small bits and set aside.
  5. Lastly, beat an egg with a fork and add some water for an egg wash.
Wonton prep and Sweet Cream Filling
  1. First, preheat the oven to 350 before making your cream. Next, take out 10 wonton wraps out of the refrigerator at a time and put them on a plate, and place a damp paper towel over them.
  2. Then, add your cream cheese, powdered sugar, and milk to a bowl and stir.
Making the Sweet Cream & Cranberry Walnut Wontons
  1. First, add 1/2 tsp.of the cranberry mix and a 1/2 tsp. of the sweet cream to the center, add a couple bits of chives if you would like and fold diagonally.
  2. Next, dab your clean hands in water and run across the ends. Then, take a fork and press along the edges.
  3. Then, brush the egg wash over the top of the wonton. Next, use cooking spray and spray a cookie sheet first then bake 5-6 minutes, watching very closely. If need be, bake an additional 4-5 minutes until lightly browned.
  4. Lastly, wait to cool, add a dab of the sweet cream on top of the wonton and add a chive or jalapeno, or both!! Serve as a Delicious Appetizer for a Holiday Party or as a Thanksgiving Side Dish, these are Super Scrumptious....Enjoy!!!
